Forward a Contact via SMS on Your BlackBerry! December 9, 2009

I came across this great new app called SMS Contact by a company called BberryApp.com. The app does only one thing, allows you to forward contact information from your Contacts app via SMS.

There is no built-in way to forward contact information via SMS on the BlackBerry today, except the manual method of going to the contact on the Contacts app, selecting and opening the contact, copying the number of the person, creating a new SMS, pasting the number of the contact, and typing in the name.

SMS Contact makes life a lot easier. To send a contact using SMS Contact, select the contact on the Contacts app, then select Send as SMS on the menu. From here, a new SMS should open, thereby allowing you to type in the recipient, and hit send.

And by the way, the app is FREE!

To get SMS Contact, point your BlackBerry Browser to http://www.bberryapp.com/smscontact.htm to download and install the app. You will need to refer a friend to the app to get it working, but thats a simple enough exercise.

As a side note, the app does not work with the leaked version of OS 5 yet, though there are reports that this should come out before the year ends.

Enjoy!
